Arts and culture at Nakkertok and in Ottawa/Gatineau

Spring 2021

Who we are

As a group we are a bunch of boys and girls that are really active and sport oriented.  We all cross-country ski for different reasons: fun, competition, friendship, fitness, and also for our coaches!

We all have other passions from music to cooking, but we are always willing to try new adventures.  We're made up of families from both sides of the Ottawa River, the border between the provinces of Québec and Ontario.

We all speak English, mais la plupart d'entre nous peuvent bien s'amuser en français aussi!

Our community

In the Ottawa-Gatineau Community we are a kind and welcoming group of people. Our daily life includes a large amount of time spent outdoors or exercising. Whether it’s skiing on the SJAM, running in Gatineau Park or cycling on our many bike paths we find many ways to enjoy the outdoors.

The community has mixed cultures from around the globe that you can enjoy in places such as Little Italy or Somerset. Running through the heart of the Ottawa-Gatineau area, the Ottawa River is an excellent location for bike riding and along its shores you can find many famous museums such as the Canadian War Museum, The National Art Gallery, or the Museum of History. Branching off of the Ottawa River is the Rideau Canal and the Locks UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Other interesting facts about the Ottawa-Gatineau area include the fact that we are a part of the Provinces Quebec and Ontario. In our community art is a large part of our cultures. You can find many sculptures, musicians, and murals out on our streets almost all year round. In the Ottawa-Gatineau Community, we have many attractions, natural elements and many cultures.

Why are we participating?

We are participating in this event for we share a common interest: skiing. We are looking forward to meeting new people in brand new environments, lifestyle and trails. Going to BC and coming to Ottawa will be a great travel and has much opportunity.  New friendships will develop as well as talent will be spread.
